SERGEANT JANCIGA

Sgt. Jeff Janciga has been employed by the Johnstown Police Department since 1998.
Sgt. Janciga attended Johnstown High School and the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown, earning a bachelor's degree. He graduated from the Indiana University of PA Police Academy.
Prior to his employment with JPD, Sgt. Janciga worked as a state-certified EMT/Paramedic at the former UPMC Lee Regional Hospital and numerous, local EMS agencies.

Sgt. Janciga earned promotion to sergeant in 2005. As a sergeant, he is supervisor of shifts. He is currently assigned to the canine unit with his partner, "Elvis". Elvis is a malinois/dutch shepherd mix. Elvis is certified through the Eastern Police Canine Association to the degrees of "Street-Ready Patrol Dog 1", "Police Narcotics Dog 1", and "Police Narcotics Dog 2".

Sgt. Janciga is also a member of the SERT team, entry division, typically assigned as a "breacher" (the guy that breaks open doors). He has been with SERT since 2000.
Sgt. Janciga is a certified instructor in first aid and CPR. Sgt. Janciga is also employed by the East Taylor Twp. Police Department as a part-time officer. He has received training through the Northeast Counter-Drug Training Center, the National Tactical Officer's Association, the Pennsylvania State University, the Multi-Jurisdictional Counter-Drug Task Force, The Institute for Law Enforcement Education, and numerous others.
