The City of Johnstown uses Civil Service Testing procedures and once the procedure is complete, a ranking will be complied of those who have passed all the phases of the testing procedures for a two year period.
Individuals who have taken the Civil Service test previously will be required to re-apply and repeat the entire application process to be considered for employment
Individuals MUST PASS a physical agility test prior to taking the written test.
Individuals who pass the agility test then MUST PASS all four phases of the Written Civil Service Test
The testing process consist of a Physical Agility Exam, Written Exam, Oral Exam, Background Investigation, Medical Exam and a Psychological Exam.
Successful completion off all parts are required for employment.
We do not accept lateral transfers and all applicants must go through the same testing process.

Some requirements for Police Officer are as follows:
Must have a valid PA operators license or obtain one upon being hired.
Must be a high school graduate.
Must not been convicted of any felony.
Must be of good moral character.
Preference points are given for Military Veterans.
Current base salaries as of 2008.
1st year patrol officer-$32,823.69
4th year patrol officer-$39,848.90 |
