Patrol
The Johnstown Police Departments's Patrol Division consists of seven patrol sergeants and 36 patrol officers.
Both men and women make up the JPD and serve in all capacities. Patrol officers are assigned to work separated
sections of the City which are referred to as "zones."
The JPD has a contract for services with the Johnstown Housing Authority (JHA), Middle Taylor Township, West Taylor Township and Lorain Borough. Officers provide 24 hour protection to the City and all of the contracting communities. Through federal funding and the Johnstown Housing Authority, the City has been able to hire numerous additional officers. The JHA funds additional full time officers, who are assigned to work the housing communities. This makes up three of the six "zones" that the JPD operates. JPD officers are given the opportunities on a regular basis to attend schools and job related courses. The JPD has numerous officer-instructors to insure the best possible training on a regular basis. Officers are trained in-house by officer-instructors on the use and care of weapons, chemical munitions, computerized fingerprinting, records databases, search and seizure, and many other strategic areas. ![]() Visitors |
