Citizens Police Academy
The Johnstown Police Dept. has started a program in which citizens can interact with law enforcement.
The Citizens Police Academy is a state funded program where citizens can be educated and train with law enforcement on a variety of law enforcement issues.
The six week course is instructed by police officers, magisterial district judges, district attorneys, 911 operators and paramedics. Some of the topics include:

Entry-level training received by police officers.

Myths about law enforcement.

Barriers between citizens and police.

How police can meet residents on common ground.

Knowledge of constitutional law, state law and general police procedures.

The Johnstown Police encourages all residents to take advantage of the citizens police academy, which meets on Tuesdays from 6-8 pm on the fifth floor of the Public Safety Bld.
