A Message From the Chief

It is the mission of the Johnstown Police Department to serve and protect the persons and property within the City of Johnstown, and to enforce all State and local laws in a professional manner with fairness and courtesy.

Actually, that portion of police services, dealing with the real criminals, is only a small part of our overall responsibility. The greater percentage of our time and energy is expended on non-criminal service functions and in dealing with law abiding citizens of the City of Johnstown.

Our broad philosophy must embrace a wholehearted determination to protect and support individual rights while at all times, providing for the security of persons and property in the communities in which we serve. We are also active in community awareness. It is believed that a community that is aware, is less likely to be victimized. We will always strive for professionalism and dedicate ourselves to our City in which we serve and live.
